What are the benefits of yoga classes for teens? Lets talk about it! Yoga boasts a host of benefits for students of all ages, but teenagers may be the big winners from what yoga has to offer. Besides offering physical advantages like increased core strength and better balance, stress management is a definite perk! This age group is facing stressors like exams, broken friendships, work-life balance and the desire to stay healthy, most often without the necessary tools to overcome these obstacles. Yoga for teens promotes discipline, focus, and time away from busy teenage lives, serving as a healthy alternative to screen time, and less desirable temptations. This class is designed to take each student on the journey of the self, to the self, through the self. Encouraging self-reflection as well as promoting an optimistic outlook on life. Teens will have fun getting fit, while improving their strength, balance, flexibility and endurance with challenging poses. They'll also develop emotional equilibrium, self-esteem, and concentration skills with the deep breathing relaxation techniques and meditation components of each class. Teen yoga has been shown to improve both the physical and mental heath in adolescents. Like yoga for adults, yoga for teens can be an effective practice for reducing stress and increasing feelings of overall well-being. Combining breathing exercises with the physical postures, and movements of yoga help teens to become more comfortable in their body and to face challenges with greater equanimity. All levels welcomed ages 13-18
