Service Description
Yin/Yang yoga blends two yoga styles into one practice that works on energy, flexibility, and strength while providing a wonderfully balanced practice. Yin/Yang yoga is a practice that balances the slow-paced Yin yoga with the traditional Yang yoga (Ashtanga and Hatha). Yin/Yang yoga has its roots in China in the Taoist concepts of Yin - a feminine, passive, internal cooling energy, and Yang - a masculine, dynamic, warming upward energy. The Taoist believe that Yin and Yang complement each other and one cannot exist without the other. Yin/Yang yoga practice uses both types of yoga to provide both physical and spiritual balance. The blending of Yin/Yang brings together the benefits of passively holding yoga posses with more dynamic sequences and standings postures. When these terms are applied in yoga, Yin Yoga is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer. It works on the deep, dense (Yin) connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang yoga in contrast, refers to a more active practice. This works on the (Yang) muscles and blood flow, building strength, stamina and flexibility. Yang styles of yoga are those with rhythm and repetition like Vinyasa Flow.
